We are back at Roanoke. We left CHKD at 9:20 this morning and arrived at Roanoke at 2:00 this afternoon. We had a great trip. Cooper really enjoyed the ride. We listened to Christmas music until Daddy got tired of Mommy playing Old Toy Trains over and over and over....! Then Mommy started reading Heaven is For Real out loud and got almost half way through it when we pulled into the parking garage. Cooper either slept, giggled, or simply watched the world go by out the window for the entire trip. He never once fussed.

Cooper's doctor met with us shortly after we arrived. He has decided to do a "tap and wrap" tomorrow. This is where they go in and "tap" out all of the spinal fluid, then wrap his head so the fluid won't fill the spaces between his skull and skin. He said this may take a few times before determining whether or not it works. So, for now we are staying away from the idea of a shunt. That relieved us. However, we need to keep in mind that a shunt is always a possibility. He also said he feels as though after the swelling goes down and his nerve has time to recover, his eye lid will probably open. This is great news. Even though he can't see out of it at least he has a possibility of opening it. We are praying this will happen for him.

The last time we were here we met a really nice couple that had a little one who was having trouble gaining weight. We were here with them the entire time. We spent many nights walking our babies around the unit together. They were able to go home the day before we left for CHKD. Today, when we were down stairs admitting Cooper, I heard his name. I turned and there was the couple whom we became close with. They were also being admitted today. They are just a few doors down from us. God is awesome and he knows just how to bring people together.

Even though we were in the car all day we are worn out. I think it's going to be an early night for Mommy and Daddy. We haven't unpacked anything but some of Cooper's stuff. The room is a mess. And, if you know me, you know I can't stand that. I guess I will have some thing to keep me busy tomorrow.

Cooper did not want to go to sleep, but he was so tired. At home we usually let him fuss it out and he has always fallen to sleep on his own. Tonight, I cuddled with him on the couch until we both fell asleep. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. Daddy had to wake us up to put Cooper in his bed.
