Sunday: December 15, 2013

I can't even begin to explain the joy we experienced today. We were told yesterday that we could "probably" leave for 8 hours each Sunday. We didn't want to get too excited incase we weren't able to. However, we did go ahead and plan just in case! When we got the word this morning we were free to leave, out the door we went. We had only 8 hours and were determined to make the most of it. 7 hours and 55 minutes later we turned!

Randy and I took Cooper to the Children's Museum in Portsmouth. It was amazing! Not only did Cooper love it, so did Mommy and Daddy! They had a real life grocery store, bank, and vet. They had real fire trucks, city buses, and motorcycles to "drive." Cooper was able to "fish," shop, cook, make crafts, and so much more. We had lunch at The Coffee Shop that had delicious sandwiches. Next Sunday we are planning on a trip to the Aquarium. While at the museum, we ran into a very nice couple who got us tickets. We are so thankful for their generosity. Cooper had so much fun being out. Mommy and Daddy loved spending time with our boy away from the hospital. We can't wait until next Sunday.

When we returned to CHKD, Cooper actually ate a really good dinner. He shook his head "yes" for the first time since surgery. And, he clapped BOTH hands. Today was such a special day for the three of us. Randy and I are beyond lucky to have Cooper in our lives.

Here are the pics from our day. Sorry there are so many, I couldn't help it!

The start of our tour: the trains!

  5. I think the BIG chair represents how much all three of you deserved this day of fun and "joy!" It never ceases to amaze me how you seem to always overpower tough days and rough weeks with "FT" - family time that is fun but also extremely healing for Cooper-and mommy and daddy too. It's as if God is giving the two of you the strength and the way to "recharge" on Sundays! Prayers continue everyday, but I know personally that on your joyous Sundays entire Churches are naming Cooper specifically, sending out groves of individual and group prayer for Cooper. May God grant Cooper peace mixed with lots of strong will in his therapies including his "FT" this Sunday! We luv u and pray always!
